Hello Lovelies, It is Monday once again and if you are in Europe working in an office like me, you have got through the day pretty far now and starting to think of lunch. Today I bring you a review of a drug store foundation. What I was looking for is something matte , light and without a thick coverage. While I was browsing through a magazine on the flight to London ,I came across the advert for the Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation so I went hunting in Boots for it. Let’s face it any excuse to go to Boots!
The colour tone I got for my very fair skin is 10 Ivory and it costs £7.99. In Boots there is a buy one get the 2nd half price offer on the Maybelline line. Let’s face it you can risk trying something new.
(Please note that the swatch is not blended at all, I just wanted to give you an idea of the colour)
The texture is like thick mousse and you need to blend it more then a normal creamy foundation. The best way to apply it is with a beauty blender in my opinion, the brush takes a while to get it smooth and non streaky. It settles on your skin immediately and covers average, it feels hydrating, light and the colour matched my skin well. I tried it first thing in the morning before a day out around London Town.
The picture on the left is my finished face with compact powder and a touch of blush in the morning. On the right side is 9 hours later (the lighting differs due to the morning light and indoor lighting which made it look different). The foundation held well through the day of constant commuting, wind and drizzle. After 9 hours I noticed a slight amplification of my pores on the cheek area which is very common for me. It never felt drying or heavy on my skin which is a big deal when your skin is not used to freezing London weather.
All in all for the elements it had to face, the price and the number of hours without any retouching I am pretty pleased. For a long lasting effect I will use it for work, when I am on the inside most of the day and want something light on my skin.
Take Care Lovelies x
